하지만 사람에게는 그 25분이 운명을 결정하기도 한다고
나는 믿는다.
물론 가서 기다리는 사람보다,
못오고 있는 사람 심정이 훨씬 더 절박하고
그 심정을 헤아려 주는 사람도 있을 게다.

이 노래를 듣고 부터,
정말 절대로 늦지 말자 결심을 했었다.
그런데, 난 늦어버렸다.
그것도 오히려 여유가 많아져서...
여유가 없으면 더 천천히,
그리고 여유가 많으면 더 서둘러서...
왜 못지켰을까...
소심해서라기보다는, 내게 늦는다는 것은,
운명을 바꿀 지도 모르는 두려운 일이기 때문에,
나는 약속 시간을 어기는 거 보다는 되도록 먼저 가 있어야 한다고 본다.
사람은 자기 입장에서 생각하다보니,
난 기다릴 때 불만은 없지만,
기다리게 하는 것에 대한 내 자신에 대한
용서할 수 없는 무엇인가가 끓게 된 것은,
어리석은 내 자신이 씌우는,
나에 대한 올가미일 수도 있다는 것,
나도 잘 알고 있다.
나는 기다리는 쪽에 익숙하고,
기다리게 하는 데에 익숙하지 않다는 것이 죄는 아니라고 본다.
